Nairobi Regional Commissioner Katee Mwanza has emphasised the need for additional classrooms in public schools in Nairobi County to accommodate school-going children from informal settlements.
This, he said, will prevent them from attending Apbet schools, where they lack serious learning and exam preparation.
βThe feeding programme in public schools will upscale enrolment and retain children in schools,β said Mwanza.
He said some of the children who are not enrolled in schools are a result of their parentsβ reluctance because they themselves did not go through formal education.
βWe need to break the cycle of parents not taking their children to school because they did not go to school,β he added.
