Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has announced that 453 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers who were on contract have been converted to permanent and pensionable positions.

The delay was due to budgetary constraints that would cover their salaries and allowances.

Mutula emphasised that the government is rewarding the hard work of the teachers, despite their low income.

He urged the national and county governments to treat and remunerate teachers well, as they play a crucial role in preserving the future and positively impacting young children.

The government has invested in building child-friendly infrastructure and providing essential materials for activities like music and digital learning in ECDE centres across the county.
