Nairobi Regional Commissioner Katee Mwanza has emphasised the need for additional classrooms in public schools in Nairobi County to accommodate school-going children from informal settlements.

This, he said, will prevent them from attending Apbet schools, where they lack serious learning and exam preparation.

β€œThe feeding programme in public schools will upscale enrolment and retain children in schools,” said Mwanza.

He said some of the children who are not enrolled in schools are a result of their parents’ reluctance because they themselves did not go through formal education.

β€œWe need to break the cycle of parents not taking their children to school because they did not go to school,” he added.
