2023 KCSE Ranking Of Schools - Best Performing Schools in Nyamira County

Nyakeore SDA secondary school, a sub county school in Nyamira South Sub-County is still in celebratory mood after being ranked top nationally in the most improved sub-County schools category.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu when officially releasing KSCE examination results announced that the school, which had hardly hit any headlines on sterling performance before, was the top school nationally in the category of sub county schools with a performance index of 65.2 per cent.

The school’s Principal, Bruce Kerage, while addressing the press said the good news caught him unawares for he was not expecting such a superb performance from his candidates, hinting that they had set a mean score target of 6.50 which they surpassed to attain a mean score of 9.03, a positive deviation of 2.53.

“I was expecting an improved performance in the 2021 KCSE examination results but this wonderful positive margin exceeded my expectation and that of the entire school fraternity and community,” said Kerage.

“We first are very thankful to the Almighty God for this and further attribute the good results to discipline, hard work and above all coordination from all the school stakeholders.” He added.

Kerage, however noted that the good results posed a great challenge to the current form four class and other lower form classes for they have to maintain the top mark or surpass it in the coming examinations for them to retain the fame which has put the school in the records of history for the first time since its inception.

Our Lady of Mercy Rangenyo Girls Secondary school had set their target mean score at 6.5 for the 2023 KCSE examination and managed to surpass it and attained 7.94 a positive deviation of 1.7.

The school Principal said the school has been making positive improvement for the past five years since she was posted at the school in 2016.

“I’m impressed with the school’s upward trend in performance and very optimistic that we shall soon clinch our coveted desire of becoming a national school of prestige which will be a dream school for all girls nationally. We are gradually building the brand and soon we shall attain it,” she assured.

The school whose candidature was 125 produced 114 of them with the minimum university entry grade of C plus (+).

In Borabu Sub County, Mwongori SDA secondary posted a stunning performance with a mean score of 8.014, which the Principal noted was one of its best ‘worked for’ results and was proud of.

“The results we have posted is a true reflection of the individual ability of the 2023 candidates, a result which our school will ever be proud of because just like our school motto, ‘We strive to excel’, we believe in personal hard work,” stated the Principal.

The school had a candidature of 354 and 322 managed to acquire the minimum direct entry grade to Kenyan universities. And was among the top in Nyamira County.

St. Kizito Nyansiongo boys is also on the roadmap to reclaim its lost glory after registering a mean of 9.3 with 228 out of the 229 candidates who sat for the examinations qualifying to join public universities.

St. Gonzaga Gonza Isoge secondary school with a candidature of 45 students managed to register a mean of 9.3 with 44 students qualifying for university.

In Manga Sub County, Nyambaria Boys, a coveted national school, produced the best candidate nationally at position 8 in the category of students with special needs. It had registered the highest number of candidates in the county, 580 and only 7 missed to attain the minimum university entry grade.

Sironga Girls’ secondary school, a national school, had 451out of 459 who sat the examination qualifying to join Kenyan public universities and posted a mean of 8.76.

Kebirigo boys which topped in last year’s examinations in the county registered a mean of 9.174.

Other schools that registered impressive results are; St. Peter’s Nyakemincha (8.84), Gesiaga mixed (7.6), Nyamira Boys (7.2), Nyakongo boys (8.72), Riyabe mixed (6.822), Nyachururu P.A.G (7.24), Bosiango SDA (6.75) among others.
