2023 CRE Knec Examiners latest News; Full details

How it went down at St. Francis Mangu Marking Centre:

~Monday: Examiners down their tools over poor pay and working conditions. They demanded that chief examiner be changed.
~Tuesday: Examiners insisted in protest that no marking will go on.
~ KNEC officials tried to calm down the teachers but it fell on deaf ears.
~ KNEC CEO assured the examiners that the Chief examiner has has been sent on parking.
~ Examiners were adamant and insisted that what they were being paid was too low considering the straining they go through marking the paper.
~TSC CEO, Education CS and Education PS arrive at the marking centre later to calm the situation.
~ TSC CEO Nancy Macharia tried to address the examiners but was chased away and was not able to make the address.
~CS Machogu equally was not able to address the examiners and that’s when anti riot police were called.
~CS Machogu demanded that the examiners should leave the marking centre within 30 minutes.
~ CS Machogu convined and urgent meeting.
~Later in the evening, KNEC placed an advert asking those who had trained as CRE examiners to apply.
~Those (Examiners) who had tried to hang around in the hope that they will be allowed to continue marking were chased away.
~The marking centre was closed.
~ Currently, the place is manned by riot police in full gear.
