2024 Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (KECOSO) Games in Nakuru- Latest news

Preparations for the upcoming KECOSO Games are in top gear as the KECOSO Organising Council and Committee converge in Nakuru for preparatory meetings. The highly anticipated games are scheduled to be held in Nakuru County from August 31st to September 7th, 2024.

While Attending the game’s preparatory meetings being held at Chester Hotel in Nakuru, the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Youth, Gender, Culture, Sports And Social Services in Nakuru County, Dr. Josephine Atieno, assured the team of the utmost support during the event. “We are thrilled to welcome the KECOSO family to Nakuru,” she said. KECOSO Games are set to benefit from the newly refurbished, state-of-the-art Afraha stadium which is set to be re-opened in the next few weeks.

KECOSO, a leading sports federation in Kenya, bridges three pivotal ministries: the Ministry of Roads and Transport, the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts, along with the various parastatals under their umbrella. The Games are an annual celebration of sport, promoting fitness and networking among Kenya’s government agencies.

This year, the Games will also open their doors to local Nakuru teams, integrating the community into a week-long festival of sports. The games feature competitions across a wide range of disciplines, including golf, football, swimming, basketball, volleyball, netball, darts, pool, snooker, table tennis, and scrabble, ensuring a comprehensive sporting experience for all participants.

This year’s KECOSO Games are poised to ignite Nakuru’s sporting passion and leave a lasting impact on the region. As the final preparations are underway, the city eagerly awaits the arrival of the athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts from across Kenya, ready to witness a week of thrilling competition and unforgettable moments.
