2024 revised school calendar (Revised 2024 term dates for primary and secondary schools)

The Ministry of education has released the 2024 revised school calendar (Revised 2024 term dates) for all primary and secondary schools in Kenya.

2024 TERM DATES FOR ALL LEARNERS

2021 Term Dates

In the revised calendar, all learners will open for term one of 2021 on July 26, 2021. The term will last for 10 weeks with the closing date slated for October 1, 2021.

The Ministry says the revision of the term dates is in a bid to normalize the school calendar which was disrupted by the covid 19 pandemic.

“Following the stake-holders’ consultation, the revised term dates were agreed on in order to cover the remaining two terms of 2020 school calendar and stabilize school calendar by December 2020.” Reads a circular by the Ministry of Education and titled; ‘RE: SCHOOL CALENDARS FOR YEARS 2020, 2021, 2022 AND 2023- REVISED TERM DATES FOR PRE-PRIMARY, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGES’.

The Ministry directs that all 4 year old kids will join PP1 in July, 2021 instead of January. Meanwhile, Grade 4 CBC learners will transit to Grade 5 in July, 2021.

Further, Grade 4 and incoming form one class (class 8 graduates) will stay at home as other learners complete their term 3; resume in July, 2021.

Term 2, 2021 half term will commence on Friday 19th November, 2021, to Tuesday 23rd November, 2021.
