2024 Schools’ and Colleges’ Term dates from the Ministry of Education

Here is the revised and final 2024 School Term Dates and Academic Calendar: The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 academic calendar for schools and teacher-training colleges.

In a letter sent to all Regional Directors of Education, County Directors of Education, and Sub-County Directors of Education the Director General for basic education, Dr Elyas Jillaow, states the 2024 school academic calendar term one will commence on January 8, for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools and end on April 5, 2024.

Dr. Jillaow said during the 13 weeks, the students will have a three-day half term from February 29th, 2024, to March 3rd, 2024, while the April holiday will start on April 8th, 2024.

Pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will commence their second-term classes from April 29th, 2024, to August 2nd, 2024. Half-term will be from June 20^th to 23rd, 2024, while the August holiday will be from August 5^th to 23rd, 2024.

The Director General stated that the pre-primary, primary, and secondary school third term calendar will commence from August 26th, 2024, to October 25th, 2024, for a period of nine weeks.

“The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment will begin on October 28th, 2024, to October 31st, 2024, while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will start on November 4th, 2024, to November 22nd, 2024,” he announced.

Meanwhile, Dr Jillaow added that the December holiday for schools will start on October 28th this year and end on January 3rd, 2024.

2019 PRE-PRIMARY and PRIMARY SCHOOLS TERMS DATES

Term 1:

1. First Term, will run for 14 Weeks
2. Opening Dates: 2nd January 2019
3. Closing Dates: 5th April, 2019
4. Term one Half-Term:- Begins on February 18 to 24th February, 2019.

Term 2:

1. Opening Dates: 29th April, 2019
2. Closing Dates: 2nd August, 2019
3. Term two Half-Term: Begins on June 17th to 23rd June, 2019.

Term 3:

1. Opening Dates: 26th August, 2019
2. Closing Dates: 25th October, 2019
3. No half term in third term.

2019 KCPE Exams Dates:
KCPE: 28th October 2019 – 2nd November 2019

2019 SECONDARY SCHOOLS TERM DATES

Term 1:

1. First Term will run for 14 Weeks
2. Opening Dates: 2nd January, 2019
3. Closing Dates: 5th April, 2019
4. Term One Half-Term: Begins on February 18 to 24th February, 2019.

Term 2:

1. Opening Dates: 29th April, 2019
2. Closing Dates: 2nd August, 2019

Term 3:

1. Opening Dates: 26th August, 2019
2. Closing Dates: 25th October, 2019
3. No mid term break in term three.
4. 2019 KCSE Exams: KCSE: November 4th to 29th November, 2019.

Points to Note about the 2019 School Calendar/ Term Dates

• There will be no mid term break in third term (half term)
• The secondary schools term dates also apply to colleges
• Third term for Secondary Schools will run for 10 Weeks for forms one to threes. While, third term in Primary Schools will run for 9 Weeks.
