Revised School Calendar 2024: The Ministry of Education in Kenya has released the 2024 school academic calendar for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, and teacher training colleges (TTCs).
In the new academic calendar, term 1 will begin on January 8, 2024, and close on April 5, 2024. Students will then proceed for a three-week long-term 1 holiday beginning on April 8 to April 26. As the school calendar returns to normal, term 1 has 13 weeks, term 2 runs for 14 weeks, and the third term will take 9 weeks.
The ministry announced that the 2024 Term 1 will open on January 8, 2024, and end on April 5, 2024, after 13 weeks. Students will have a 3-day half-term break from February 29 to March 3, 2024, just in the middle of the term.
2024 Term 2 Term Dates.
Term 2 academic calendar will resume on April 29 and end on August 2, 2024. This result in a total of 14 weeks.

The second term half-term break will run from June 20 to June 23, 2024. On the other hand, the term 2 holiday break will run from August 5 to August 23. The August holidays will take 3 weeks.
This will be the shortest and will run for 9 weeks starting from August 26 to October 25. There will be no mid-term break for term 3, given its short duration.
Schools will then break for the long December holiday starting from October 28 to January 3, 2025. The 4-day KPSEA and KILEA Assessments will run from October 28, 2024 to October 31, 2024. On the other hand, the KCSE exams will kick off from November 4 to November 22, 2024.

For the Diploma in Teacher Education for Secondary, Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education, their calendar for term 1 will run from January 8, 2024 to April 5, 2024.
The second term will start on April 29 and close on August 2, 2024, while the third term will run from August 26 to November 8, 2024.
