2025 Kazi Mtaani, Climate Works, to Hire 113,000 Youths {Details}

The Kazi Mtaani program is set to return under the Climate Workx Youth Employment Initiative, which aims to enroll 113,000 young individuals for manual labor jobs over a six-month period starting at the end of June 2025.

This initiative has been allocated Ksh. 5 billion by the Ministry of Roads and will be implemented in 46 counties, excluding Nairobi, where a similar program already engages over 20,000 youths.

Young people from these 46 counties interested in temporary manual jobs have 10 days to register online before a manual recruitment process led by chiefs and assistant chiefs takes place.

The government, represented by Principal Secretaries Charles Hinga (Housing), Raymond Omollo (Interior), and Joseph Mbugua (Roads), has stated that only one member per family is eligible for enrollment, with a focus on low-income families.

“We aim to assist low-income individuals aged 20-35 to enhance their livelihoods,” said PS Hinga.

PS Omollo added, “We have implemented a well-coordinated program in Nairobi that prevents issues like political interference.”

PS Mbugua mentioned, “The work will also include pathways and bridges.”

The revival of the Kazi Mtaani initiative during President William Ruto’s mid-term comes after he previously criticized it as Deputy President and discontinued it shortly after taking office.
