A list of Kenyan Musicians who never succeeded in the Music industry

Most Kenyan Musicians have been so successful in the music industry with some becoming overnight millionaires.

The likes of Nameless, Wahu, Nonini, Bahati are some of the Kenyan Musicians swimming in a pool of riches after raking in millions from their hit songs.

On the flip side, some other Singers got the going tough and diminished into thin year with nothing much to smile about.

Here is a list of some of the most unsuccessful singers in Kenya:

1) CZARS

Musician Czars

He shared stage with Jamaica’s Sean Paul, Tanzania’s Mr Blue, Amani, Redsan, CMB Prezzo, Jua Kali, Nameless and many other artistes.

He was a Form Four student studying at Kilindini secondary school in Mombasa, in 2005 before he disappeared.

2) E-SIR

Issah Mmari Wangui aka E-Sir

His real name was Issah Mmari Wangui.

At the age of only 21, In 2017, he got nominated for the Mdundo Awards for Most Downloaded Hip-Hop Artist in 2017. He died in a car accident in 2003. Boomba Train was his last hit song.

3) CHANTELLE

CHANTELLE

She did one hell of a job on the track Tokelezea – a collabo with rapper Abass Kubaff that not only culminated her into instant fame but literally went viral.

4) CAMP MULLA

CAMP MULLA

They were Kenya’s youngest musical group that rocked Africa with their highly danceable scintillating tunes and powerful vocals stamping their authority as the newest kids on the block in the urban African music scene.

5) Gidi Gidi – Maji Maji

Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji

Their 2002 hit tune Unbwogable – One of Kenya’s biggest song, was not only performed live during the finale of “Big Brother Africa” 2003, but was also ranked top in Germany’s Last FM including other European countries, America and Australia.

6) BOOMBA CLAN:

They were one of the most entertaining comical group to come out of Kenya and East Africa.

The five Dagoreti High school students – Viq, Thome, Phillo, Erico and Peter brought you hit songs like Don’t Touch My Car, Meet my parents and Chonga Viazi.

7) PILIPILI

Peter Gatonye aka Pilipili

Peter Gatonye (born November 1982) known better for his stage name Pilipili.

At the beginning of his career, he collaborated with another musician, Gun B. Their best known song was “Nampenda”

He also did a song with Ratatat. The song was called “Morale”.
