Bura Girls High Senior School’s Complete Details and Reviews

Bura Girls High School started in the 1920s as a small mixed day primary school established by Catholic missionaries to provide basic education to the local community. In the 1940s, it developed into a girls’ boarding intermediate primary school and also hosted a teacher training unit.

In 1965, it was upgraded into a full girls’ secondary school, beginning with one stream under missionary leadership. The school expanded in 1974 through the Harambee spirit with a second stream added.

In the 1990s, leadership shifted from missionaries to Kenyan administrators, marking a new phase of local management. From the 2000s, the school grew rapidly, expanding streams, improving facilities, and increasing enrollment.

Today, Bura Girls High School is a national girls’ school known for discipline, strong academics, and steady development from its humble mission origins.
