Circular on CEMASTEA Training of 8,563 Juniour School Teachers 2025
RE: FEBRUARY 2025 TRAINING OF JUNIOR SCHOOL STEM TEACHERS ON VIRTUAL LABS AND O THER DIGITAL RESOURCES
Under the Secondary Education Equity and Quality Improvements (SEEQIP) Project, one of the areas of intervention is the establishment of virtual laboratories to leverage technology and the readily available online resources in STEM to improve classroom instruction and efficiency in utilization of resources. This is intended to address learning resources gap in STEM education.
In this regard, capacity building of teachers on how to use virtual labs will be critical to the success of the initiative. Consequently, CEMASTEA plans to train 8,563 Junior School teachers assigned to Mathematics and Integrated Science on the use of virtual labs and other open educational digital resources to enhance STEM education in Junior Schools.
The training will be conducted for four days during the Term I midterm break starting from Wednesday 26th February to Saturday 1st March 2025 in SMASE INSET Centres in all the 47 counties.
1) Invite the JS teachers of Integrated Science and Mathematics to participate in this training. The selected teachers are those who have attended at SMASE INSET as a pre-requisite. The distribution of the teachers to be trained by counties is summarised in Annex I. The approved list of teachers is in Annex II
2) Invite all the JS County Trainers who were trained on virtual labs in December 2024 to a one-day online induction session that will be organised by CEMASTEA on Monday 24th February 2024 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
3) Inform Private schools about the training and the requirement to pay Ksh. 880 per day for 4 days for each teacher to offset the cost of day conference (which includes meals and stationery) during the training.
This training is expected to go a long way in supporting the transition of 60% of JS learners to the STEM pathway in Senior Schools.
Thank you for your continued support.
