Do you understand C.B.C (2-3-3-3-3-3 Education System)? Worry not. See this simplified summary

Here is a simplified summary of the CBC Curriculum: 2-3-3-3-3-3.*

1. 2 years–ECDE (PP1 & 2)
2. 3 years—Lower primary (Grade 1-3)
3. 3 years—upper primary. (Grade 4-6)
4. 3 years—Junior school (Grade 7-9)
5. 3 years—Senior school (Grade 10-12)
6. 3 years —University and other tertiary colleges.

Selection of the pathways above is done at grade 10 while joining senior school.

Senior School Pathways

There are three pathways after JSS:

1.STEM
S-Sciences
T-Technology
E-engineering
M-Mathematics

2. Social Sciences:
Law
Teaching
Journalism

3.Creative Arts& Sports:
Music
Drama
Theatre Arts
All sports disciplines
Comedy and creative industry

All courses related to science belong to STEM:
wielding and fabrication
Carpentry and joinery
ICT
All engineering courses
Architecture
Actuarial science
Nuclear physics
War science
Medicine
Nursing
Software programming and many more.

The government wants 60% of all learners to join STEM.

Advice your children accordingly.There are more opportunities in STEM.

Performance indicators in the various disciplines offered at JSS will inform placement of learners at various SSS schools offering particular pathways.

As things are today each SSS will offer at least 2 of the 3 disciplines.Clustering of the SSS schools is ongoing.

SSS stands for Senior Secondary school.

Enrollment with KNEC assessments begin at grade 3 with KEYA– Kenya Early Year Assessment .

Free Grade 9 CBC Notes, Exams and Schemes of Work

At grades 4 and 5 the learners continue with KNEC school based assessments which are included at final Grade 6 assessments to make KPSEA report a platform to join junior School.( Kenya Primary School Education Assessment)
