DP Gachagua’s impeachment Schedule at the Senate- Full program

Embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua faces a tough week as his impeachment trial begins in the Senate on Wednesday According to schedule provided.

Wednesday Schedule

-Reading of charges will be held for 30 minutes, from 10:30 am to 11am

-11am to 11:30am, there will be an opening statement by National Assembly

-Gachagua team will also have 30 minutes for opening statement

-Tabling of evidence by the National Assembly will be held from noon to 1 pm

-Members will break for lunch at Ipm and resume sitting at 2:30pm

-2:30pm to 6:30pm, National Assembly will continue tabling its evidence

-The House will then have room for questions & clarification by senators from 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Thursday Schedule

-9am to 1pm, Gachagua will be allowed to table his evidence & call witnesses

-3 hours for the evidence of the DP & 2 hours for cross-examination

-House will break for lunch from 1pm to 2:30 pm

-House will then resume with Gachagua’s evidence until 3:30pm

-An hour window for questions between 3:30pm to 4:30pm

-4:30pm to 5:30pm, closing statement on behalf of National Assembly

-DP’s team will also have a session for a closing statement, 5:30pm until 6:30pm

-House will then debate the motion on the impeachment motion, 6:30pm to 8:30pm

-Members of the House will hold a vote at 8:30m & adjourn

Note that Gachagua needs the support of 23 of the 67 senators to survive
