The Ministry of Education has been urged to prioritize the construction of more classrooms for Junior Secondary School (JSS) students and employ enough teachers to meet the growing demand.

Speaking at Mumias Central Primary School Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa commended the government’s efforts in addressing the needs of JSS students but noted that more still needs to be done.

He emphasized that the government should intensify efforts in recruiting additional teachers and improving school infrastructure across the country.

The call comes amid ongoing efforts to stabilize the JSS program following its rollout, with many schools still facing challenges such as overcrowded classrooms and teacher shortages.
