The Ministry of Education has released the official revised and final 2025-2026 academic term dates/ calendar of activities for all public and private schools in Kenya.

The released school calendar gives details of term dates for Pre-Primary, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools plus Teacher Training Colleges, TTCs.
The school calendar is very important for schools, teachers, learners, parents and all other education stake holders in the Education sector. This is because the schedule shows the term durations, holiday breaks, and national examination dates.

Academic Term Dates 2025: Key dates for the 2025-2026 School Calendar/ Term Dates
๐๏ธ 2025 Term one dates/ Calendar
Term 1: Opening date on 6th January 2025 and runs for 13 weeks, up to closing date on 4th April 2025. There is a mid-term break that will start on 26th February to 2nd March 2025, and will last for five days.
April holiday 2025: A three-week holiday will follow Term 1, from 7th April to 25th April 2025.
๐๏ธAcademic Term Dates 2025: Term two 2025 dates/ School Calendar
Term 2: kick off on 28th April 2025 and runs for 14 weeks; ending on 1st August 2025.
Schools will proceed on a five-day half-term break from 25th June to 29th June 2025.
August holiday 2025
After second term, Schools will close for three weeks, from 4th August to 22nd August 2025.
๐๏ธAcademic Term Dates 2025: Term three 2025 Dates/ School
Term 3: Opening date for term 3 will be on 25th August 2025 and will last for nine (9) weeks, with closing date on 24th October 2025.
December long holiday 2025
The academic year will officially end on 27th October 2025 for most learners, who will enjoy a 10-week December holiday running until 2nd January 2026.
๐๏ธ 2025 Knec National examinations schedule/ Timetables
The 2025 calendar also displays crucial dates for national assessments. There will be a record five (5) national examinations that will be administered by Knec in 2025 as shown in the schedule below:
๐๏ธ Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will run from 27th to 30th October 2025.
๐๏ธ While, the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will kick off on 27th and end on 31st of October 2025.
๐๏ธ Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) & Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) will begin on 27th October and run through to 6th November 2025.
๐๏ธ Similarly, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will start on 3rd November and end on 21st November 2025.
