2023 FEASSSA Games- 20th Edition

A Spotlight Boys’ Soccer Teams- St. Mary’s Kitende.
No one has lifted the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) more than St. Mary’s kitende (SMASK) from Uganda. They have won the championship a record thirteen (13) times. The Ugandan Kings retained the title for eleven years between 2004 and 2014. They were dethroned by their Ugandan counter parts, Buddo SS, in 2018 at Musanze, Rwanda, after overcoming hosts LDK 4-3 in post match spot kicks.
SMASK reclaimed the trophy in 2019 after edgeding rivals Buddo SS via a solitary goal; in the final played at Sheik Abeid stadium in Arusha,Tanzania. The following year (2022) Kitende were eliminated at the Semis by HighWay from Kenya; denying them an opportunity of defending their title. Kibuli SS went on to lift the boys’ football trophy and gold medals with a 2-0 win over Kenya’s Highway in the final of the 2022 FEASSSA Games at the Shiekh Amri Abeid stadium, Arusha, Tanzania.
At this year’s games, SMASK has been drawn in pool B alongside Kenya’s Silver medalists, Dagoretti High, Kibuli SS (from Uganda), Kiwira Coal Mine (Tanzania) and Rwandese Champs Ecose Musambira
Pool A has: Kenya’s Gold Medalists, St. Anthony’s Boys, Tanzania Champs Kalangalala and Uganda’s Bronze medalists, Amus College. Other teams in the pool are: Shanderema (Kenya), Collège George De Fox De Kagarama (CGFK) and Uganda’s Silver Medalists St. Henry’s College, Kitovu.
Of the teams gracing this year’s edition it is only St. Anthony’s Kitale, Kenya (2002) and Kibuli SS (2022) who have lifted the trophy in the past.
