Government to provide food to learners in new school feeding policy

The National Assembly has approved a motion on the Development of a School Feeding Policy, following a motion moved by Hon. Elsie Muhanda, MP.

In a session chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula, Members of the National Assembly unanimously resolved that the Ministry of Education, through the relevant State Departments, should immediately develop a school feeding policy to cover basic education pupils and sustain the program in order to ensure that children are maintained in schools for effective learning and to improve their well-being.

This comes at a time when most parts of the country are faced with acute food shortage; keeping most learners out of schools.
