Governor Fatima Achani urges Parents and Clergy to resolve Parenting Crisis

Governor Fatima Achani has called on parents and religious leaders to take decisive action to tackle the parenting crisis that has led to a breakdown in the social fabric of the community.

She expressed concern over the rise of juvenile criminal gangs in various areas of Kwale and urged parents and guardians to instill values of good morals, honesty, and hard work in the youth.

Governor Achani emphasized the importance of parental responsibility in raising children. โ€œAs future leaders, young people must be taught strong morals to lead purposeful lives as adults,โ€ she stated.

She highlighted the alarming trend of local youth engaging in drug abuse, criminal activities, and other social issues, describing the situation as unacceptable.

The governor encouraged religious leaders and imams to support parents in promoting good morals among the youth. โ€œWe urge our religious scholars to consistently advocate for peace, love, and unity to foster a prosperous society,โ€ she added.

Achani lamented the involvement of youth, some as young as 12, in criminal behavior and stressed the need for community support in maintaining law and order.

She affirmed her administrationโ€™s commitment to implementing policies aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in the area.

The governor also stressed the importance of youth acquiring skills to protect themselves from negative influences. She noted that the devolved government has established vocational training centers throughout the coastal county to help lift hundreds of youths out of poverty.

Fatuma Masito raised concerns about the decline of family values and urged parents to reassess their roles. She advised them to raise their children properly to combat the increasing moral decay among the youth in society.

Masito also called on families to ensure proper upbringing for their children to help reduce violence in various parts of the county.
