Parents of learners who sat for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) last year are being urged to send their children to Grade 7 without waiting for the results.
This comes after reports that some learners stayed home when schools reopened on Monday because the results had not yet been released.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, and the Ministry of Education, the KPSEA report will, however, be part of the process of monitoring of learner progress.

The Examinations body releases report on KPSEA at three levels: a report on individual learners for the summative assessment, a school-specific report, and a national report.
The national report provides feedback to education stakeholders on areas that require intervention. The report indicates the proportion of learners at each of the performance levels per subject where perhaps some interventions are required.
According to Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang, the transition to Junior Secondary School is automatic, as per the government’s 100% transition policy. The Ministry of Education has directed that all grade six students will transit to Grade 7.
Meanwhile, the Government has instructed all the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) to follow up and ensure all children under their jurisdiction have reported back to school as the school calendar begins this year.
The officers have been instructed to move from village to village to mop out any child who could have been left behind during this season of school opening.
The Government says any parent whose child will not report back to school as expected will be held culpable and could risk arrest and prosecution in a court of law.
โWe are very alert to ensure no child is left behind as the schools open for the first term of the year. We will be moving from village to village to ensure all children have reported back to school. The schools will also be required to provide a list of children who have not reported back to school so that we can do the necessary follow-up,โ Said Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia.
