Under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework, approximately 1.2 million students will be the pioneers entering Senior School, where they can select from three distinct career pathways: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Arts and Sports, and Social Sciences. The Ministry of Education has outlined various subject combinations categorized into five primary pathways: STEM (Applied Sciences), STEM (Pure Sciences), Arts & Sports, and STEM (Technical Studies).

For those drawn to the rhythm of music and dance, this pathway also allows for a blend of these art forms with fine arts. If you select Music & Dance alongside Fine Arts, the same array of subjects applies.

Students can further explore the intersection of dance, music, and theatre. Opting for a focus on Theatre & Film, Music & Dance opens up similar subject choices as previously mentioned.

For those passionate about physical fitness, the Sports & Recreation focus within Arts & Sports is an excellent choice. Here, you can also select from the same subjects, tailoring your education to your interests.

Moving on to the Social Sciences pathway, students can delve into business and humanities. If you choose to emphasize Business Studies and History & Citizenship, you can add Arabic, Computer Studies, CRE/IRE/HRE, Fasihi ya Kiswahili, French, General Science, Geography, German, English Literature, Mandarin, or Advanced Mathematics.
