How to Apply for ODM Ward-Level Positions
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially opened applications for ward-level positions in preparation for its grassroots elections, which are set for April 7, 2025.
The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) of ODM will manage the application process in accordance with Article 61 of the party’s constitution.
Following the successful polling unit elections held on November 27, 2024, ODM is now ready to conduct its Sub-Branch (Ward) elections at specified locations across all 47 counties.
A total of 77 party officials will be elected at both the Sub-Branch (Ward) and Branch levels across four committees:
1. Mainstream Committee
2. Women’s League
3. Youth League
4. Disability League
Available positions include Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, Special Interest Group Representative, and additional committee members.
Voting will take place either by consensus or by a show of hands between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on election day.
Eligibility to Apply
Only delegates elected at the polling unit level can apply for ward-level positions. Additionally, all applicants must have paid the Ksh100 fee required for the polling unit elections.
Application Process
Eligible delegates can submit their applications for Sub-Branch (Ward) positions via the ODM Party App using the official link: ODM grassroots election. Alternatively, applicants can register by dialing 483056# on their mobile phones.
Applications opened on Thursday, March 20, 2025, and will close at midnight on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Registration Fees
Applicants must pay a non-refundable fee through ODM Pay-bill No. 985900, using the position they are applying for as the account number. The fee structure is as follows:
1. Sub-Branch Positions (excluding Chairperson): Ksh200
2. Sub-Branch Chairperson: Ksh500
3. Non-executive Branch positions & Women, Youth, Disability Representatives: Ksh500
4. Executive Branch positions (excluding Chairperson): Ksh1,000
5. Branch Chairperson: Ksh5,000
Results and Dispute Resolution
After the elections, the Presiding Officer will:
1. Announce the results.
2. Upload the results to the ODM Party App.
3. Submit the results to the Returning Officer.
Any members who are dissatisfied with the results can file a complaint within 12 hours of the announcement via the Party App. A dispute resolution fee applies:
1. Sub-Branch election complaints: Ksh15,000
2. Branch election complaints: Ksh30,000
Dispute fees must also be paid via ODM Pay-bill No. 985900.
