How to calculate 2026 MNS Dividends and Rebates

Hello Mwalimu national members, MNS. It is count down to declarations of the 2026:

1.Rebates
2.Dividends

Here is your complete guide on how to calculate 2026 MNS Dividends and Rebates

This is all that you need to know:

  • Declaration Period: 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025
  • Date of declaration of dividends and rebates: 28/2/2026
  • Crediting of rebates and dividends: Immediately and not later than 1/3/2026
  • Both Rebates and dividends attracts 5%_ withholding tax

HOW TO CALCULATE REBATES AND DIVIDENDS

1. Rebates: Paid on a prorated basis.

This means returns on deposits are calculated based on the number of months each deposit remains with the Sacco during the year.

Practical example on calculation.

As at 31st December 2024

  • Total deposit : 800,000
  • Monthly deposit: 5000
  • Rates,10% for purposes of calculation.

1. 800,000×10/100 ×12/12
= 80,000
2. January: 5000 ×10/100 ×11/12

= 458.33

3. Feb: 5000 ×10/100 ×10/12

= 416.66

4. March: 5000×10/100 ×9/12

= 375.00

5. April: 5000×10/100 × 8/12

= 333.33

6. May: 5000 × 10/100 ×7/12

= 291.66

7. June: 5000×10/100 ×6/12

= 250.00

8. July: 5000×10/100 ×5/12

= 208.00

9. August: 5000 ×10/100 ×4/12

= 166.66

10. September: 5000 ×10/100×3/12

= 125.00

11. October: 5000×10/100 × 2/12

= 83.00

12. November: 5000 ×10/100 ×1/12

= 41.66

13. December: 5000× 10/100 ×0/12
= 00.00

Total= 2749.65

Grand total(Rebates)= 82,749.65

Dividends: From the capital share.

Dividends are not prorated and are calculated based on the share capital balance at the end of the year

Capital share= 30,000
Rate(Example): using 13%

13/100 × 30,000

= 3900

TOTAL (Rebates +Dividends)= 86,649.65

Less 5% _Withholding tax_= 4332.48

TAKE HOME= 82,317.16
