Wondering how you can calculate your Kuccps cluster points? Worry no more. Here is a simplified guide on how to calculate your weighted Kuccps cluster points.
Weighted cluster points are a KCSE examination graduate’s computed performance in four subjects required for admission to a given degree programme against that of the best candidates in the particular KCSE examination year.
Keep in mind that it is based on cluster subject requirements and the overall performance of a candidate.
Now, the points are computed to three decimal places to reduce chances of applicants tying on points.
In essence, cut-off points are the weighted cluster points of the last competitively placed student in a given degree programme.
the formula to calculate cluster Points for various KUCCPS courses is given below:
C=[√ (r/R* t/T)]*48 Where r -sum of 4 cluster sbj R=48 t – your grade pts T=84
or =[√ (r/R* t/T)]*48 Where r -sum of 4 cluster sbj R=48 t – your grade pts T=84
Note: The sign * means multiplication.
A. Divide the total number of points you earned in the four subjects counted the course you want to take by 48 (the total number of possible points in 4 subjects).
B. To find out where you stand, divide your total score by 84 e.g 68/84…
C. Multiply answer A by answer B then get the squareroot of the product
D. Multiply the squareroot you get in (C) above by 48, that gives the cluster points.
Critically, candidates need to know that cutoffs are not made available until after students have been assigned to universities and colleges.
This is something KUCCPS does on purpose so that prospective students can get a sense of how difficult the course is by looking at the last four years’ worth of cut scores.
Apart from the overall grade you scored lets say C+ there are four subjects that are required before you do a specific course. These are the four required subjects.
At KUCCPS website they are normally labeled as;
You are supposed to add the four subjects points (for the specific course) and type them in the calculator field labeled (X).
NOTE 1: Each course has its own required subjects. For Law courses required four subjects are different from Engineering.
NOTE 2: Minimum entry grade for Degree courses is C+
Subject points are
These are the points you got for the seven subjects you did. For instance, if you got an A (plain) in all subjects then aggregated points will be 84.
