How to check grade 10 Senior School placement results
Grade 10 placement results: The Ministry of Education, MoE, has finally released the Grade 10 Senior school placements for students who took the 2025 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA).
According to the Ministry, Parents can quickly check their children’s placement results by sending the KNEC assessment number via SMS to 22263 or by visiting the ministry’s portal at placements.education.go.ke.
Students must report to their assigned senior secondary schools by Monday, January 12, 2026.
The Ministry explained that the placement was fully automated, taking into account students’ preferences, their KJSEA performance, psychometric test results, equity, and school capacity.
“The top performers in each STEM, social science, and arts track will get priority placement in boarding schools of their choice,” the Ministry stated.
These exam results were announced on Thursday, December 11. The tests were held from October 27 to November 3 to evaluate the readiness of the first Competency-Based Education (CBE) cohort.
A total of 1,130,459 learners sat the exam, comprising 578,630 males and 551,829 females.
The Ministry noted that parents and students can request a school change through a formal application. Such requests must be submitted through junior school heads at least two weeks before the Grade 10 reporting date.
However, senior schools must first declare any vacancies through their county directors of education. The ministry stated this replacement process will be conducted only once and is final once completed.
If approved, joining instructions will be issued online, with the ministry cautioning that “at no time shall a school issue printed letters for replacement cases.”
It added, “The officers involved are required to cooperate and ensure a fair and credible selection and placement process for a smooth transition of students from junior school to senior school.”
