How to collect your KCSE Certificate, check & correct errors.

Every year, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) sends Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificates for the previous year.

The Council then directs all students who sat the previous Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to collect certificates from their respective schools.

The Students can then collect the examinations’ certificates for verification.

The candidates can collect the certificates through their respective Sub-County Directors of Education (for Private Candidates) and Principals of Secondary Schools.

“The KCSE examination certificates for all eligible candidates have been dispatched to schools through their respective sub-county director of education offices. Candidates and parents/guardians are hereby requested to collect the certificates from their institutions at the earliest opportunity” KNEC usually sends this message through a press statement.

Queries which should be submitted online through the Query Management Information System (QMIS) must reach KNEC not later than 30 days after the release of the certificates.

“Queries about examination results/certificates must be made t within thirty (30) days after the date of dispatch and will attract a fee of Kshs. 5,000.00 payable through the Paybill number generated by QMIS after verification of the application submitted. Certificate queries submitted in hard copy will not be accepted” Knec directs.

Candidates who would have not submitted passport-size photographs by the time of printing will not be issued with the document.

What you should do upon receiving the KCSE certificate

The following details must be counter-checked before the Issuance of the certificates to candidates:

2.1 Accuracy of details:

#Centre name and candidate’s names;

# School code;

# Candidate’s Gender.

2.2 Quality of printing (that the certificate has no smudged or faded print; and are in good condition).

2.3 Embossing of hologram and candidate’s passport size photograph.

The passport size photograph embossed on the candidate’s certificate is exactly the same as what was submitted to KNEC during the registration of the candidate.

2.4 The number of certificates delivered are as indicated in the Checklist provided for each examination centre and for all candidates who qualify for award of the certificates.

Any discrepancies should be indicated in the Acknowledgement form and forwarded to KNEC through the SCDEs’ offices.
