Husband of teacher murdered after withdrawing cash had previously been kidnapped and robbed

The husband of a teacher who was murdered after withdrawing cash from a bank had previously been kidnapped and robbed.

Residents of Ekero Market in Busia are stunned after armed criminals fatally shot a female teacher from Khaunga Secondary School on Tuesday.

Immediately after withdrawing Ksh. 200,000 from a bank in Mumias town, Roselida Akinyi Wanga was assaulted in broad daylight.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who had been following her in a small vehicle, attacked her as she was returning home.

This is not the first time the family has been attacked, according to Area Chief Peter Nabiswa. After withdrawing money from the same bank last year, Akinyi’s husband, who was also a teacher, was kidnapped and left in a thicket in Siaya.

The pair may have been susceptible to criminal notice due to their provision of agency services and mobile banking at Khaunga Market.

Authorities have verified that no arrests have been done to this point, but inquiries are still ongoing.

The murder has been condemned by community members, who are calling for law enforcement to act quickly.

The residents are terrified after the brutal killing, with several calling on officials to strengthen security measures.

This event underscores increasing alarm about bank-related robberies in different areas of the country, along with demands for better protection for residents and business owners.
