THE ELECTIONS (REGISTRATION OF VOTERS) REGULATIONS, 2012

SUSPENSION OF CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 83 and 88 (4) of the Constitution of Kenya, sections 5 and 8 (1), (2) (a) and (b) of the Elections Act, 2011, Regulations 13, 14 and 15 of the Elections (Registration of Voters) Regulations, 2012, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that the application for new registration and change in registration of voters in Kenya and for Kenyan citizens living outside the country shall be suspended from the 4th May, 2022 to 13th March, 2023. The Commission notifies the public that this suspension is to enable availability of the register of voters to the public for purposes of verification of biometric data and particulars of registered voters in accordance with sections 6A of the Elections Act, 2011.

THE ELECTIONS (REGISTRATION OF VOTERS) REGULATIONS, 2012

AVAILABILITY OF THE REGISTER OF VOTERS FOR VERIFICATION

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Article 88 (4) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, sections 4, 6A, 11 and 12 of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 27A and 27B the Election (Registration of Voters) Regulations, 2012, of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that the new Preliminary Register of Voters has been completed and is available for verification

for a period of thirty (30) days from the 4th May, 2022 to 2nd June, 2022.

The Register of Voters may be verified at the registration centers published in a Special Issue of the Kenya Gazette Notice No. 10442 carried in Vol. CXXIII–No. 203, on 1st October, 2021 and Gazette Notices No. 194, 195 and 196 carried in Vol. CXXIV–No. 7 and published on the 14th January, 2022.

How to make a claim:

A person who duly applied to be registered and his or her name or biometric data has not been captured correctly in the register of voters may make a claim to the Registration Officer within the period prescribed for verification.

The claim must be made in the Prescribed Form. Dated the 28th April, 2022.

Delete; Political parties intending to present candidates through direct nominations or party primaries shall submit the names of the persons nominated to contest in the election to the Commission on or before the Thursday, 28th April, 2022.

Insert; Political parties intending to present candidates through direct nominations or party primaries shall submit to the Commission the names of the County Governors and Deputy County Governors selected to contest in the election in the prescribed format on or before Monday, 16th May, 2022.

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Article 88 (4) (d) and

(f) of the Constitution of Kenya, section 11 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, 2011, sections 39 (1A) and (1B) of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 3 and 4 of the Elections (General) Regulations, 2012, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission appoints the persons named in the Third Column of the First Schedule as the County Returning Officers, the persons named in the Fifth Column of the Second Schedule as the Constituency Returning Officers, the persons named in the Fifth Column of the Third Schedule as the Deputy Constituency Returning Officers and the persons names in the second Column of the Fourth Schedule as Returning and Deputy Returning Officers for Kenyan citizens residing outside the Country.

The appointments are for the purpose of the 9th August, 2022 General Election exercise.

Note: The Constituency Returning and Deputy Returning Officers shall also be Registration and Registration Assitants for purposes of the verification of the register of voters execise scheduled to be conducted from the 4th May, 2022 to the 2nd June, 2022.
