JSS teacher commits suicide after differing with girlfriend; Read full suicide note

A sombre moods has engulfed Ndaraweta area in Bomet County after a 33-year-old man allegedly took his own life outside a rental room where his lover stays.

According to area assistant chief John Tanui, the body was found hanging on the verandah roof.

Tanui said the deceased had been identified as Bernard Langat and a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher in one of the schools in Trans Mara, Narok County.

A source says the deceased had visited his girlfriend, who is a student at Bomet central TTI staying in a rental premises a distance from the college.

“We were told he had been around for some days with his girlfriend who is pursuing her studies here at the college. It seems he didn’t spend his night with his lover for unknown reasons last night. His girlfriend, commonly known as Sharon, was the first to break the sad news” added the chief.

In a Facebook post said to have been written by the deceased, he had raised issues concerning his love life, and had indicated a decision to end his life. He thanked his family for providing for his education and recalled good memories with his students.

Police officers attached to Silibwet police station visited the scene and moved the body to Longisa hospital mortuary.

Here is the suicide note left by the late teacher:

I am sorry my lovely parents-dad and mum. I know this will hit you hard. You loved me. You sacrificed for me. You raised me and educated me selling the little you had ranging from chickens, goats, cows to even land. It is a pity that am gone without having given back to you. Sorry. I know you will weep and bleed in your hearts. May God console and do you all I would have done. Forgive me.

I am sorry my dear brothers and sisters. You always looked up to me. I was greatly indebted to you being the first born who depleted most of our humble family resources. But despair not_God won’t disappoint you. Work hard. Succeed and raise each as it has always been the practice in our love shrouded family. Forgive me.

I am sorry my relatives-uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Forgive me.

I am sorry my neighbours and friends. You always stood by me. You would fundraise for my school fees severally without question. Forgive me.

I am sorry my students. This moment of heightened emotions, it is clear in my mind that you loved me and I too loved you. I will miss your company. Those laughters. Those smiles. Those discussions. Forgive me.

I am sorry my colleagues. I kow you are set to lose me,one of you. Forgive me.

I am sorry my special friend. I am sorry my love. I am sorry Sharon. You loved me. You counselled me. You encouraged me in my lows. I will forever miss you. Most importantly, I am sorry IF I hurt you so much that you had to treat me in such a manner of condemnation, disrespect and ruthlessness. You heavily hurt and broke my heart. I forgive you though. Am sure one day you will also forgive me.

I am sorry my mp and good friend, Hon Ngong. I thank you for having graced my graduation homecoming ceremony in 2015.It is unfortunate that you are likely setting foot our compound a second time when I am the silent one in a big crowd. Our family is your supporter. A breadwinner has gone Mheshimiwa. I know my stupid move does not deserve a reward but kindly do.
