KCSE 2024 grading and changing of mean grades- Knec speaks

KCSE Grading system 2024

KCSE 2024 grading System: The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has dismissed claims on leaked Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams grading system.

This comes even as the Council rejected other misleading posts on how to change the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination marks and mean grades.

Knec gave this communication on its official X (formally Twitter) social media account. There have been several online posts luring the KCSE 2024 Candidates to check their grades and even alter their marks & mean grades. This comes as the marking of the exams continues.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi Ogamba.

KCSE 2024 Grading system and Marking

Knec Chief Executive Officer Dr. David Njengere, while refuting the fake claims, says the KCSE marking and grading process is a top guarded secret.

“Marking of exams is a confidential process, and KNEC may not disclose the identities of the examiners. KNEC undertakes due diligence in inviting examiners to ensure reliability and credibility of the process,” says Njengere.

The marking exercise for the KCSE 2024 exams, that were done in November, is ongoing at various marking centres in Nairobi and its environs. The candidates will then be able to receive their results from the Council.

The 2023 KCSE Exams were released in January 2024 by former Education Cabinet Ezekiel Machogu; several days after completion of the marking exercise.

This was a departure from the strict timelines set by his predecessors the late Prof George Magoha and Fred Matiang’i; who could release the results immediately after marking.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi Ogamba has announced that the 2024 KCSE results will be released in January, 2025.
