KCSE exam papers have special features and would be used to identify those who engage in cheating- CS Ogamba says

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has revealed that the government will adopt tougher measures to discipline teachers engaged in exam malpractice.

While overseeing the conduct of KCSE on Monday, November 18, the CS revealed that the government would ensure that convicted teachers are deregistered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Additionally, he noted that the government would impose a lifetime ban on the teachers.

Through the ban, teachers and education officials facilitating exam cheating will never be able to work in the education sector ever again.

We have requested the Judiciary to give us special treatment so that the process of prosecution proceeds as quickly as possible,” the CS announced.

“We are also going to ensure that once convicted, these individuals will not work in the education sector again.”

Similarly, he asserted that investigative agencies were currently investigating those identified to have facilitated exam malpractice in this year’s examination.

The CS also indicated that the exam papers had special features and would be used to identify those who engaged in cheating.

The CS expressed that there was minimal cheating. However, he noted that there were cases of early exposure in some cases.

“We are not going to condemn the whole school. This year the way the papers were designed we will be able to identify those who were engaged in the malpractice,” Ogamba stated.
