KMTC Clinches Prestigious Awards at the 13th Edition of the Champions of Governance Awards
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has been recognized for its commitment to good governance and healthcare education, earning the Education Sector Award and the Board Chairperson of the Year Award at the 13th Edition of the Champions of Governance (CoG) Awards. The Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) organized the event on November 29, 2024, at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi.
The award ceremony was attended by members of the KMTC team, including Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah Cheruiyot, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, Board Director Dr. Hezron Omollo, Deputy Director of Finance and Planning Ms. Lucy Chebungei, and other staff.
In his remarks, Board Chairperson Mr. Joseah Cheruiyot thanked the College fraternity for their contributions.
“These awards are a recognition of the collective efforts of the KMTC family. They reflect our dedication to building governance frameworks that uphold accountability and transparency. I appreciate the commitment of my fellow Board Directors, whose stewardship has been critical to these achievements” he said.
CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving governance milestones. “This recognition underscores KMTC’s commitment to adopting governance practices that enhance operational effectiveness. I thank our Board Directors, staff, students, and stakeholders for their continued support, which has been instrumental in our success.”
The awards and coordination of the exercise were a comprehensive undertaking, carefully organized, and facilitated by the College’s Corporation Secretary, Ms. Caroline Muchina.
The CoG Awards acknowledge institutions that demonstrate excellence in governance, emphasizing principles such as accountability, transparency, and integrity, which are essential for sustainable growth and social cohesion.
KMTC’s achievements are further reflected in its substantial role in healthcare training, with the College contributing over 85% of Kenya’s healthcare workforce. Its commitment to innovation and leadership in education was also recognized earlier this year at the 2024 Digitally Fit Awards, where it was named Business of the Year for its effective use of digital platforms and won the Gold Award in the Technical Training Institutes and Polytechnic category.
As KMTC celebrates these awards, it looks ahead to the upcoming graduation, scheduled for Thursday, December 5th, 2024, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. During this event, 21,261 graduands will receive higher diplomas, diplomas, and certificates. Equipped with essential skills, they are prepared to contribute to Kenya’s Economic Transformation Agenda and advance Universal Health Coverage through a Primary Health Care approach.
