KMTC Karuri Campus Course details, location, history & contacts
The Campus traces its roots to 1963 as a rural training facility offering courses in Nursing, Food Sciences, and Inspection.
In 2009, it began offering courses in Environmental Health Science.
The Ministry of Health established the institution as a National Reference Health Centre.
Its construction began in 1960 with funding from the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, Rockefeller Foundation, the Government of Kenya, and the Kiambu County Council.

Karuri Campus gained autonomy from KMTC Nairobi Campus in 2016.

The Campus is situated within Karuri Level 4 Hospital in Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County.

Inception and Growth:
The idea of starting the Campus was mooted by the Ministry of Health as a National Reference Health Centre.
In 1960, the construction work kicked off in earnest with funding from the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, Rockefeller Foundation, Government of Kenya, the former Kiambu County Council. Three years later (January 1963) the facility was officially opened.
Karuri Campus was given autonomy in 2016 effectively, separating it from KMTC Nairobi.
