The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has aligned training needs that support the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA) to facilitate efficiency in claims management and service provision under the new system.

KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch said that through research, innovation, and consultancy, the institution was addressing the need to have qualified staff to handle pre-authorisation challenges currently being experienced in the rollout of SHA.

He gave the assurance during a routine visit at the Bondo KMTC campus, adding that the introduction of the medical insurance course at the college will smoothen the government’s efforts in the implementation of the Taifa care programme for the benefit of the people.

The CEO implored members of the public to register and pay dues to SHA so that the country can have a system that is able to support the treatment of the general public as envisaged in the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

Dr. Olouch said that as a premier middle-level Health training institution in the country with an over 70,000 student population, KMTC has ensured that the quality of training of medical staff was not only prioritised but also maintained, sustained and even improved.

β€œWe can never take the quality of training lightly. When we undertake routine visits, it is to ensure quality services,” said Dr. Oluoch.
