Knec dispatches 2023 KCSE and KCPE Certificates to Schools
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has declared the distribution of certificates for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.
In a message shared on X, KNEC verified that the certificates have been sent out via Sub-County Directors of Education throughout the nation.
“Candidates are encouraged to coordinate with the schools where they completed the examinations to obtain the certificates,” the council mentioned.
KNEC also cautioned that it is unlawful for any school to hold onto a candidate’s certificate, advising students encountering such issues to report to the Sub-County Directors of Education for help.
This comes after a directive from Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on March 24, 2025, warning school principals against holding certificates for any reason, including outstanding school fees or lost items.
“Holding a student’s certificate when they have finished school, whether because of fee arrears, missing books, or damaged property, is illegal,” Ogamba stated.
He provided a 14-day deadline for all withheld certificates to be released, stressing that schools should find alternative ways to collect any outstanding payments.
