Knec Guidelines on selection of Junior Secondary School Choices

SUBJECT: SELECTION OF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CHOICES

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to inform you that the schools to host Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners has been uploaded onto the CBA portal.

In this regard, this is to bring to your attention the following:

All headteachers presenting candidates for the 2022 KPSEA are advised to log onto CBA portal “www.cba.knec.ac.ke” and use the school’s credentials (username and password) to access the list of schools and guide learners to select their school choices for JSS.

Once logged onto the CBA portal, schools shall be required to:

  • click on the icon ‘Grade 6’; list of KNEC
  • select ‘Register learner’;
  • click on ‘Secondary School Choices’ button appearing next to a learner’s name to key in his/her choices.

Each learner shall be expected to select:

  • two National;
  • two Regional;
  • two County;
  • four Sub-county;
  • two Private Junior Schools choices (parents will be expected to meet the cost of education in private schools).

Inquiries on Junior Secondary Schools that are missing or ought to have been included in the KNEC portal should be directed to the County Directors of Education through the Sub-County Directors of Education for guidance.

The exercise runs from 15th August to 30th September, 2022 and all headteachers are urged to adhere to the deadline.
