KNEC- How to revise the 2020 form one schools choices by the 2019 KCPE candidates

The Ministry of Education has directed all the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, candidates to revise their form one choices by this August. This is opposed to the earlier dispensation where candidates switched schools after announcement of the KCPE results.

‘The Ministry is also determined to make the 2019 Form One selection process more effective and efficient. Over time, the Ministry has realised that some candidates wish to revise their Form One selection choices in Term Two after having effectively assessed their likely KCPE potential based on class assessments’ said Prof Magoha who is the Education Cabinet Secretary.

“To respond to this, I have today directed KNEC to immediately open a window to allow candidates who are already registered to revise their Form One choices. I expect the Council to provide guidelines on the revision exercise to ensure it is completed by Friday, August 2, 2019,” adds Magoha.

Therefore, KCPE candidates can revise their choices by using the procedure below:

1). Visit the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, website by using the web address; www.knec-pkrtal.ac.me
2). Next, Click on Candidate registration. Log onto your schools’ system by entering the provided User Name and Password.
3). On the next page, under the Register Candidates tab, select task to be Edit Existing Candidate (s) and click on Continue.
4). Enter the last 3 digits of the candidate’s index number i.e 001 under the Index Number Box and click on Search. Details for the particular candidate will be displayed.
5). Immediately under Secondary School Choices, select ‘ Click here to display choices if not loaded’. This will enable you to review the candidate’s choices.
6). Enter the revised choices accordingly; 4 national schools, 3 extra county schools, 2 county and Sub county schools.
7). Once satisfied with the choices, click on Submit. A success message will be displayed thus, ‘Successfully edited’.
8). Repeat this for all the candidates whose school choices you want to alter.

Remember, there will be no altering of school choices after expiry of the set period.
