KJSEA Workshop Circular: The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has issued a circular inviting teachers for a two-day workshop for Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA). Read the circular below.

RE: INVITATION TO A WORKSHOP FOR THE SCHOOLS THAT PARTICIPATED IN KJSEA PILOT

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has embarked on preparations for administration of the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) to be conducted to learners at the end of Grade 9. The first cohort of Grade 9 learners will sit KJSEA in November 2025.

As part of the preparations, KNEC conducted a KJSEA pilot study in July 2024. The pilot involved 235 schools spread across the 47 counties where 5 schools were sampled from each county. KNEC has since analysed and improved the pilot assessment papers in readiness to transform them to sample papers.

The sample papers will be shared with all the Junior schools.

KJSEA Worksop Dates

A two-day workshop has been organised to discuss the sample papers as well as other issues necessary for successful implementation of forthcoming KJSEA. The workshop is scheduled to take place on Monday, 16 and Tuesday, 17 December 2024 at Lake Naivasha Resort situated on Moi South Lake Road, Naivasha.

Participants will be one Junior school teacher from each of the 235 schools that took part in the pilot. Head teachers of the participating schools are requested to nominate one teacher from Junior school to attend the workshop.

Please note that, participants will NOT be accommodated at the workshop venue but will be facilitated with some allowances to cater for their accommodation for 15th, 16th and 17th December 2024. Teachers are therefore expected to travel to Naivasha on Sunday, 15th December 2024 and report to the workshop venue on Monday, 16 December 2024 at 7:30 am.

KNEC will also reimburse transport based on government public transport rates.

Please note that payments will be made on the last day of the workshop and teachers are therefore requested to get enough finances for their upkeep as they await reimbursement.
