KNEC Releases Last Year’s TVET Exam Certificates for Collection
Graduates from Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training (TVET) institutions can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the long-awaited certification has been released.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has made available the 2023 examination certificates for Business and Technical Courses, much to the delight of students eager to enter the job market or pursue further education.
In a statement issued on Friday, KNEC announced, “The business and technical certificates for March, July, and November 2023 are now ready for collection by heads of institutions or their appointed representatives.”
KNEC advised that any inquiries regarding the certificates should be submitted in writing through the heads of institutions. Alternatively, students can make inquiries online via the KNEC portal, where detailed instructions are provided.
Furthermore, KNEC has set a 60-day deadline for submitting queries, warning that those who do not adhere to this timeframe will incur a penalty fee of Sh500.
“The queries must be submitted to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) within sixty (60) days following the release of the certificates, specifically by June 30, 2025,” the council stated.
TVET institutions offer a variety of business courses, including business management, accounting and finance, human resource management, supply chain and logistics management, and cooperative management.
Technical courses cover areas such as electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, automotive engineering, as well as ICT and software development.
The issuance of TVET examination certificates has often been delayed due to issues like slow processing, unpaid fees, accreditation challenges, and bureaucratic hurdles.
While KNEC usually releases exam results within three to six months, the processing and distribution of certificates can take anywhere from six months to over a year.
In the past, government intervention has been necessary to speed up the release of these certificates. In 2023, former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu ordered the immediate release of over 11,000 pending TVET certificates to address concerns about prolonged delays.
KNEC’s latest action is expected to streamline the certification process, allowing graduates from TVET institutions to obtain their documents without unnecessary holdups.
