KNEC has announced the timetable for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, which will take place from October 21 to November 21.

The exams will kick off on October 21 with French, Sign Language, and German. Practical assessments will follow from October 22 to October 31, covering subjects like Home Science, Art and Design, Woodwork, and Metalwork.

Written exams will start on November 3, beginning with English and Chemistry, with a four-hour break in between. On November 4, students will take the mandatory Mathematics exam, followed by English Literature later that day.

On November 5, candidates will complete Chemistry Paper 2 in the morning and the English composition paper in the afternoon. The next day, November 6, they will take Kiswahili Lugha (language) in the morning and Kiswahili Fasihi (literature) in the afternoon.

The second week of exams will start on November 11 with Christian Religious Education (CRE) in the morning and Biology Paper 1 in the afternoon. On November 13, students will sit for Biology Paper 2 in the morning and History and Government in the afternoon. This week will end with Biology practicals, which will last one hour and 45 minutes.

In the final week, students will take Geography Paper 1 in the morning and Physics Paper 1 in the afternoon, followed by Business Studies Paper 1 and Agriculture Paper 1 the next day. On November 20, they will complete Business Studies Paper 2 and Agriculture Paper 2. The exams will conclude on November 21 with Physics Paper 3, which is a practical exam.

KNEC has instructed all candidates and schools to strictly follow the timetable and prepare adequately. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that students understand the examination rules to prevent irregularities and penalties for misconduct.

Furthermore, Centre Managers must ensure that supervisors and invigilators at their centers have not worked at the same institution for three consecutive years.

“Supervisors must confirm that candidates have signed their answer scripts and the script control form before collecting them for packing. They should also count the scripts to ensure they correspond with the number of candidates present,” the guidelines state.

KNEC has warned that any individual found guilty of examination irregularities will face severe penalties as specified in the KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012 (Sections 27 to 40). The Council has urged schools, teachers, and students to adhere to these regulations to uphold fairness and integrity in the national examinations.
