The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) officials in Homa Bay County have accused the Union Secretary General Wilson Sossion of reducing the number of delegates who are to partake in the Union’s elections next month.
Speaking at the KNUT office in a meeting held by the top union officials led by the County KNUT Secretary Patrick Were, the members alleged that the Secretary General, Wilson Sossion had reduced the number of delegates in the County from 59 to 44.
In a joint statement read by Were, the teachers said that the recent list sent to them by Sossion on May 12 indicated that Homa Bay County should only have 44 delegates which contradicts the list he sent in January when conducting KNUT sub-branch elections.
Were noted that the number of delegates from Rachuonyo branch have been reduced to 7, Homa Bay branch to 6 delegates, while in Suba region the number of delegates have been reduced by 2.
He said that they will support Sossion’s opponents in the forthcoming Special Delegates Conference where new officials will be elected.
The teachers accused Sossion of dividing the union adding that they will not support him for another term in office as KNUT leader for he has allegedly led the union to its deathbed.
