KSSSA School Games: Shocker as several schools are locked out due to noncompliance
Several schools have been barred from participating in the ongoing Secondary School games for failing to meet set requirements. A number of schools which failed to capture their students in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association, KSSSA, online portal were dealt a big blow after the Ministry locked them out.
In Siaya County, for instance, Maranda National School’s soccer team was given marching orders by the local sports committee after it emerged that all of their players had not been captured in the portal. Aggrieved by this decision, the school’s administrators went to court to have the decision rescinded with a hearing having been slated for July 4th.
Kisumu County has not been left behind, either, after Obambo girl’s volleyball team was shown the door for failing to register their players. Communication on their disqualification was done by the Kisumu County Director Rosemary Hirenge.
“This office regrets to inform you that your volleyball team has been disqualified by the Regional Team from participating in the forth coming Nyanza Regional Ball Games.” Reads the memo, in part.
Madam Rosemary went further to give the reason for disqualification and said, “this is with regard to online registration challenge.”
Schools were required to capture details of all players in the KSSSA portal (https://ksssa.go.ke/), a directive that most of them disregarded. During the Term One National Games in Mombasa, a number of teams had most of their players barred from participating after irregularities were noted in their details.
Nyamira County’s teams have not been spared either. The Sports Secretary Hesboniah Nyauma has reported that most schools didn’t heed to the directive and thus will not participate at the Regional games. Nyauma says in some disciplines all the teams which participated at the County Championship did not have a single player registered in the portal.
The Ministry had earlier opened the portal from Friday 23rd May 2025 to Monday 26th May 2025 for schools to capture players’ details.
Here is a circular that required schools to edit players’ details:
KSSSA ONLINE PORTAL
The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association, KSSSA, has opened its portal for schools to register players.
The portal is used to capture players’ details for them to participate in the KSSSA games.
The integration of the KSSSA Sports Management Information System in School games has been a game changer. It has become a pivotal tool in the process of talent identification, development and nurturing.
The edit function of the system was disabled prior to the commencement of 2025 Regional championships.
It has emerged that:
1. Some coaches made typographical errors during data entry.
2. A few coaches did not register their students into the system.
In view of the foregoing the KSSSA sports management information system was enabled from Friday 23rd May 2025 to Monday 26th May 2025 .
This is an opportunity for coaches to edit any erroneously made entries and also give room fresh entries.
Kindly ensure full compliance to onboard all eligible students in our secondary schools.
It is worthy of note that the KSSSA system is integrated with other systems so it is able to flag any cases of ineligibility.
