The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS, is a body mandated to coordinate placement of government sponsored students to universities and colleges.
In addition,the body disseminates information on available programmes, their costs and areas of study prioritized by the government.
The minimum requirements for placement to degree is C+, Diploma C- , Craft Certificate D- and Artisan Certificate E.
KUCCPS placement process entails qualified KCSE students applying online through their website. The applications for placement is a four stage process.
The first stage involves School/Centre application, where students can apply before release of KCSE results.
The second stage is known as first revision for degree and diploma choices. This will take place on dates to be announced by placement service.
The third stage is for candidates who will not have qualified on competitive selection for any of their preferred choices during the first round of selection will be given a chance to do second revision by selecting courses with unfilled capacities.
The final stage is for applicant who fails to qualify for their choices but meet the cut off points for placement may be offered any course with unfilled capacities taking into account the minimum requirements for admission.
Step 1: Visit the KUCCPS Website students.kuccps.net and log into your account on the student portal page.
Step 2: Once you’ve logged in you will be asked to provide the index number of your respective KCSE examination. Next, write the corresponding year when you sat for the KCSE examination.
In the password section, you need to provide the number of your birth certificate. If you are not able to provide that then you can enter your KCPE index number instead.
Step 3: After you’ve successfully signed into your account on the web portal click on the ‘Courses/Programmes‘ option.
Now, select the domain under which your desired course appears and finally click on the desired programme.
Step 4: After the selection of courses, a page pops up which shows the required cluster points (for all the subjects of the specific course), a list of similar courses (along with a key that represents the concerned college) and the respective course codes of all the courses offered by this institution.
Step 5: On completion of selection of desired courses, the next step is to pay the application fees through Mpesa.
If you are applying for revision process you first have to click the “change/revise option” under the Course/Program heading.
Always remember to log out after completing the whole application process so as to keep your data safe.
