KUCCPS announces 13,823 slots in TTCs as applications now open

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the availability of 13,823 slots for the 2025 intake into public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), with the application period running until March 20, 2025.

According to KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Wahome, 36 public TTCs are offering a total of 2,735 slots for the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education programme, and 11,088 vacancies for Diploma in Primary Teacher Education.

The slots are spread across 33 colleges offering primary education and another three offering secondary education.

“A total of 13,823 slots are available in the 36 public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) for the September 2025 intake into the Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education programmes,” said Wahome in a statement on Thursday.

“Currently, there are 3 colleges offering Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, with a capacity to admit 2,735 students while the remaining 33 are offering Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, with 11,088 vacancies up for grabs.”

Applicants seeking placement into primary education courses must have a minimum of a C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent. For secondary education courses, a C+ in KCSE or its equivalent is required.

“Those with other qualifications different from KCSE should seek equation from Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to enable them to apply. KUCCPS is encouraging interested and qualified Form Four leavers from the 2024 KCSE cohort and those from the previous years to apply for the slots,” Wahome said.

“The application is open to Kenyans and non-Kenyan citizens. Applications are to be submitted online on the KUCCPS Student’s Portal, which is accessible through the KUCCPS website. Applicants are advised to be vigilant to avoid becoming victims of online fraudsters.”
