Education courses train you to become a teacher, lecturer, education officer, or school administrator.

1๏ธโƒฃ Bachelor of Education (Degree)

This course is offered at Universities in Kenya; both Public and Private.

Common options under Education Degree Course.

  • Bachelor of Education (Science)
  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood โ€“ ECDE)
  • Bachelor of Education (Special Needs)

Example:
– Health Sciences cluster: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy
– Engineering cluster: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
When you apply for any course in a cluster, KUCCPS looks at your grades in cluster subjects for that group.

โ†ช๏ธ๐‚๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐’๐ฎ๐›๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ.

These are the key subjects used to calculate your cluster points for a course.
Example:
For Medicine: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, English or Kiswahili
For Engineering: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Kiswahili
If you want to apply for Medicine, your Biology and Chemistry grades matter a lot.

โ†ช๏ธ๐‚๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐–๐ž๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ.

This is your score out of 48 points based on how well you performed in the cluster subjects for a course. The better your grades in these key subjects, the higher your cluster weight. A higher cluster weight improves your chances of being admitted to competitive courses.

โ†ช๏ธ๐‚๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ.

Minimum points needed to get admitted to a course based on last yearโ€™s admissions.
Example:
For Medicine at University X, the cut-off last year was 43.5 points.
If you have 44 points, you have a chance; if 43 or below, you may not qualify.

โ†ช๏ธ๐’๐ฎ๐›๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐‘๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ.

Minimum grades required in specific subjects to qualify for a course.
Example:
For Nursing:
– Biology: C+
– Chemistry: C+
– English/Kiswahili: C+
– Mathematics/Physics: C+
Even if your mean grade is high, you must meet these minimums.

  • Mean Grade: C (plain)
