KUCCPS Issues Urgent Call for Applications as Deadline Approaches

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has declared a seven-day window for applications from KCSE candidates wishing to seek degree or TVET courses. The final date for application submissions is April 30, 2025.

KUCCPS has encouraged students to submit their applications before the time elapses. The portal will shut once the deadline is reached, resulting in no opportunity for those who delay to apply.

Candidates who underwent the 2024 KCSE examinations are permitted to apply for degree courses. However, students who completed their exams from 2000 to 2024 can seek admission to TVET programs, including diplomas, certificates, and artisanal courses.

Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) are also included in the application process. However, these are strictly available for candidates who sat their exams between 2000 and 2024 and are pursuing teaching courses at specific colleges.

KUCCPS has pointed out that degree programs are limited to those who attained a C+ grade or better in their KCSE exams. This is an important point for students applying for degree programs.

The placement service has raised concerns regarding the low number of applicants. As of April 17, more than 100,000 students eligible for university admission had not yet submitted their applications.

John Oluoch, the KUCCPS Director for Placement and Career Development, urged students to act swiftly to avoid losing the opportunity. He remarked that more than half of eligible candidates had not submitted their applications.

The notice acts as a reminder for students to apply without hesitation, especially since the portal will soon be closing. KUCCPS stressed that students should not procrastinate until the last moment to prevent technical difficulties when trying to access the portal.

The agency’s appeal for timely applications follows observations from officials that many students procrastinate until the last moment to file their forms, which may lead to unwarranted stress.

With the deadline nearing, KUCCPS is advising candidates to finalize their applications as soon as possible to ensure their placement in chosen programs. The application window will shut at midnight on April 30, 2025.
