KUCCPS Issues Urgent Call for Applications as Deadline Approaches

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has proclaimed a seven-day application period for KCSE candidates desiring to apply for degree or TVET courses. The deadline for submitting applications is April 30, 2025.

KUCCPS has implored students to submit their applications before time elapses. The portal will be rendered inaccessible once the deadline has passed, leaving those who procrastinate without an opportunity to apply.

Candidates who participated in the 2024 KCSE exams are eligible to apply for degree courses. Nevertheless, students who undertook their exams from 2000 to 2024 may apply for TVET programs, which include diplomas, certificates, and artisanal courses.

Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) are also included in the application process. However, these are exclusively available for candidates who completed their exams between 2000 and 2024 and are pursuing teaching courses in designated colleges.

KUCCPS has underscored that degree programs are limited to those who attained a C+ grade or higher in their KCSE exams. This is a significant detail for students applying for degree courses.

The placement service has conveyed concerns regarding the inadequate number of applications. As of April 17, more than 100,000 students who qualified for university admission had not yet submitted their applications.

John Oluoch, the KUCCPS Director for Placement and Career Development, urged students to act promptly to avoid missing out. He remarked that over half of eligible candidates had not yet submitted their applications.

The notice serves as a reminder for students to apply without procrastination, particularly as the portal will be closing shortly. KUCCPS emphasized that students should not delay until the final moment to circumvent technical issues when accessing the portal.

The agency’s appeal for timely applications follows observations that numerous students are postponing until the last minute to submit their forms, which could result in unnecessary stress.

With the deadline rapidly approaching, KUCCPS is encouraging candidates to finalize their applications as soon as possible to secure their positions in the desired programs. The application process will cease at midnight on April 30, 2025.
