Kuppet supports new Education CS Ezekiel Machogu

Even though KUPPET was expecting President William Ruto to appoint a leading educationist as the next Cabinet Secretary for Education, the union looks forward to working with Hon Ezekiel Machogu who was selected for the job by the President. “The nomination took us by surprise, used as we are to having career educationists or professors at the helm of the ministry,” said Secretary General Akelo Misori.

However, the union keeps an open mind and stands ready to work with the person who has been given the job by the President, he said. “We hope that Hon Machogu, once confirmed by Parliament, will provide the necessary leadership and let educationists set the agenda,” said Mr Misori.

Recalling recent experiences, he said the ministry has had many who were not teachers. “We didn’t get along well with Madam Amina Mohamed. But Mutula Kilonzo was perhaps the best minister we have had,” he said.

KUPPET member is Labour CS

Over in the Labour Ministry, the President has selected Ms Florence Bore, a trained teacher and former member of KUPPET. She was formerly the Secretary for Gender in Kericho Branch, before being elected as the first Women Representative for Kericho County. The union is proud to be associated with her.
