Lessons that men must learn from Jowie Irungu’s murder case- Must read

LESSONS FOR MEN FROM JOWIE IRUNGU’S CASE
State of Play

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, her aide Geoffrey Okuto were charged with the murder of a man during the Ganda Ward by-election in 2019. The charges against her were later dropped, leaving her aide to face the music. The man was buried. She was rewarded by being made a Cabinet Secretary.

Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado was charged alongside his assistant Michael Oyamo and clerk Caspal Obiero over the murder of a pregnant Rongo University student Sharon Otieno that took place on September 3, 2018, in HomaBay. DNA test conducted on the foetus conclusively showed that Obado was the father of Sharon’s unborn child. The case is still dragging on in court six years later.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa was accused of shooting Brian Olunga in the forehead killing him on the spot. Brian was the aide of Brian Kghaemba, who was also vying for the Kimilili MP post under DAP-K. Didmus Barasa was later set free by a High Court in Bungoma County allegedly because the prosecution produced insufficient evidence. he now enjoys his freedom and money from political patronage.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino shot Felix Orinda, popularly known as Dj Evolve for playing music he did not like. The DJ remains paralyzed and bedridden to date. Babu Owino was set free after the trial magistrate ruled that the prosecution failed to adduce enough evidence. The court faulted the investigation officer in the case saying that he failed to tackle crucial areas and termed the investigations done as shoddy. Magistrate Ochoi further noted that the main witness was never called to testify against Babu Owino. The court ruled that the prosecution failed to adduce the medical evidence to show that the victim was injured by a gun and the ballistic report didn’t conclusively find the firearm was used in shooting.

We now turn our attention to Jowie’s case.

Businesswoman Monica Nyawira Kimani was brutally killed on the night of September 19, 2018, at her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi. Joseph Irungu alias Jowie was charged with the murder alongside former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe. Jacque was however acquitted of the murder charge, with the judge stating that the count of murder was not the proper charge that the prosecution would have preferred against her. She was last week given the position of the head of Communications in the Ministry of Public Service.
The High Court sentenced Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu to death for the murder of Monica Kimani. The judge wasn’t bothered about his motive or anything else. Just place him on the crime scene and sentence him. Couldn’t be bothered.

What do we learn from the foregoing?

1. Justice can be bought in Kenya, especially if you belong to the political class. The prosecution facilitates this by wilful incompetence and the judges also play along with the manure prosecutors take to court and acquit criminals.

2. Do not engage in crime if you are poor. You will be used as an example.

3. The devious political class is teeming with criminals and will reward criminals as they are “one of their own.” Never count on them to champion for justice, except “political justice” – which is a contradiction in terms.

4. Being an aide or a bodyguard to a politician is one of the most dangerous jobs. You can be collateral damage in their gunfights, be used as a fall guy in the courts for your boss to get away, and so on.

5. Do not allow anyone powerful to persuade you to be a fall guy under the promise that they will handle the courts and ensure you are set free. Once you are charged, unless the prosecution is in your pockets, you are done for. They will sit back and string you along with promises as the world closes around you in one tight, agonizing knot.

6. Lead a simple life. Minimize your needs. You don’t need a lavish lifestyle. Most men like Jowie find themselves in bad spots because they are trying to impress a woman or give them a lifestyle they cannot afford. As a man, know what you can and cannot afford. Do not compete with politicians and connected people for a woman. Let them have her. Do not kill yourself or go to jail to please a woman. Jowie now goes to Jail while Itumbi and other thirsty fellows have their way with the woman he loved.

7. Avoid women who have been involved with celebs and politicians. Hautawesmake. Unless you can also handle the drama, impostor lifestyle, dysfunction, and roller-coaster lifestyle. Remember, politicians have dark triad personalities. Once a woman tastes that, she cannot go back to normal. She will want to be rotated among men in those circles. If you stick around her, she will push you to the dark.

8. Remember high notch counts and SMs. You are not special. As Rich Cooper says, She’s not yours. It’s just your turn.

9. Avoid a woman who has been passed around like a blunt. You cannot succeed where other men have failed.

The sooner you get UNPLUGGED, the better.
